More like a straight to tv film, that you're watching with the audio description turned on. They advertise it as "a movie in your mind" or something like that. If it had been a music score on a proper audio drama, that would have worked fine. There is a lot of dramatic music behind the narration, which was just irritating. But that's the point - they haven't been given any proper dialogue, because this is a reading of the book, and not a properly written audio drama, which would have taken some effort on the producers' part, such as getting someone to actually write an audio drama. You just want him to shut up and let the actors tell the story through their dialogue. The narrator even tells you what sounds can be heard, instead of just incorporating all that into the soundscape. But it is just a narrator reading the book, with actors voicing the dialogue.
