And when a book is outstanding, then it's also about me soaking up many magical moments that will stay with me for a long time when I'm lucky enough then these special moments will stay with me forever.
Reading is always a matter of my personal enjoyment, a matter of me having fun and immersing myself in a story and its characters.
I can reflect and reminisce all I want but in the end the result will be the same. Jagged was my 21st book by KA and I guess there is this specific moment when you know it's time to move on. You get a good one, you may even find what you need." We get to take what we want out of them and it can be different for everyone. I hope, however, that you will respect my way of looking at things. No worries, I know there are thousands of happy KA fans out there and that's perfectly fine by me. Unfortunately, I had to realize that I won't get that by reading KA's books. It is also something that will keep me reading for many years to come.
I just think that diversity is something incredibly positive, something that will keep me happy as a reader. I want, however, distinct characters and somewhat more variety when it comes to story lines. Sure, the editing is much better than before, yet the characterizations, the speech and behavior patterns are the same. Whilst reading Jagged I got the impression that I have read the same story before. I'm not willing anymore to read the same book with the same characters over and over again. I will, however, quote a reader who asked me this after I DNFd the book: "Oh no, what happened?" That's exactly the crux of the matter.
I won't give you a rundown of my list of issues. As a matter of fact, it's a natural process that I, as a reader, need and want to evolve. Simply put, it's obvious that I have moved on to something that appeals much more to me. As I see it, mine must have changed pretty drastically because I don't enjoy KA's books anymore. Tate will always be one of my favorite heroes.
